Tim Blaylock leads the fastest-growing youth development organization in Ventura County, with a primary focus on young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. BGCOP now serves more than 7000 girls and boys through three full service clubhouses, 21 school sites, one targeted Re-entry site and one public housing unit.
Blaylock has led BGCOP through a period of dramatic growth, with particular emphasis on serving children in nontraditional environments, including public housing, Schools and a Juvenile Justice Facility.
Under Blaylock’s leadership, BGCOP has implemented initiatives in education; technology and cultural diversity; while helping the organization increase its capacities in technology, human resources, and board and resource development. Additionally, Blaylock has built one of the most prestigious and engaged nonprofit boards in Ventura County. His proudest accomplishments include refurbishing the Harriet H. Samuelsson Clubhouse, leading the charge with the SHAPE program to eradicate childhood obesity and creating an organizational culture where children are always put first and on center stage. He has had one youth under his guidance during his years in BGC that was selected as the National Youth of the Year award and One Youth National runner up, as well as many youth who have won County, State and Regional awards in various program areas.
In recognition for his achievements, Blaylock was selected in 2003 as the Executive of the Year for the 9 state Pacific Region as the Executive of the Year for Boys and Girls Clubs of America. His organizations have won numerous Marketing and Programming awards. He is also a member of National Board of Directors of The Professional Association for Boys and Girls Clubs across America.
Blaylock joined BGC movement in 1990, after working as the Vice President of Sport for the World Corporate Games.
Blaylock serves on many committees related to children’s issues in Ventura County and chairs the BASICO commission. Is a Executive Steering committee member of the P-16 commision for the County Department of Education. He is chair of the Oxnard Plain Equity, INC. He is also a newly elected Board of Trustee for the Rio School District.
Blaylock earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Washington State University. He is an avid reader and believes strongly that Education is the greatest equalizer for our young people. He has be quoted as saying, “Together we achieve more for our greatest asset, Our children” |
