Kaiser Permanente and the City of Oxnard Announce the 3rd Annual Boys & Girls Club’s Day for Kids
Local Families are invited to spend time together on Boys & Girls Clubs’ National Day for Kids

March 21, 2008

Oxnard, CA (July 14, 2008) – The City of Oxnard and Kaiser Permanente announces the 3rd Annual Boys & Girls Club’s Day for Kids on Saturday, September 20th, 2008.  The mission of Boys & Girls Club’s Day for Kids (BGCDK) is to build stronger relationships between positive adults and kids by educating them on the importance of spending meaningful time together.  Boys & Girls Club’s Day for Kids supports this mission by engaging adults, families and kids via local community celebrations, special promotions, public awareness campaigns, educational resources and other opportunities to encourage positive, sustaining relationships. Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) envisions a nationally-recognized day for kids will both create an extraordinary platform for youth, and establish a lasting tradition to reinforce that all children need a positive and caring adult in their lives.  To that end, they have deemed the third Saturday of September the official “Day for Kids.”

Our local Day for Kids celebration is a free day for families and children to spend quality time together at no cost to them.  The event will take place at the Martin V. Smith Youth Center in Oxnard between 11am and 4pm, and will feature a petting zoo put on y PartiAnimalz, jumpers, a dunk tank, reptile show, arts & crafts, outdoor activities, entertainment, games, face painting, and information about agencies in the community that provide services for local families.  For more information, please visit www.dayforkids.org
