Tim Blaylock, Chief Professional Officer at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme issued the following statement today:
“We are allowing proponents of Cabrillo Port to use our facility today to educate local residents on the project. A short presentation will be made by BHP Billiton's local personnel and pizza and beverages will be provided for participants.
The Boys & Girls Club is not endorsing Cabrillo Port. As a non-profit organization we take no stand on any issue. We do, however, let members of the public, political candidates and organizations use our facilities for their educational events or forums. If opponents of Cabrillo Port would like to hold a meeting at our facility we'd be happy to arrange that.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme help youth reach their fullest potential through a positive environment, lifelong learning, and quality programs dedicated to the arts, education, character and leadership development, health and recreation. Our vision is to help all youth who participate in the programs of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme achieve personal success and make a positive contribution to society.”
