Tony Volante, Executive Board Member of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme, Board of Directors, was recently elected President of the Central Coast Area Council of Boys & Girls Clubs of America

March 12, 2007

Tony Volante, Executive Board Member of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme, Board of Directors, was recently elected President of the Central Coast Area Council of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The Central Coast includes Santa Louis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.

Area councils, an arm of the Boys & Girls Club movement, are a primary vehicle through which suggestions and proposals flow from the 4,000 clubs and 50-plus area councils to the National Council.

Councils, which are comprised of volunteers, are frequently called upon to implement programs and projects needed to advance the strategic plan of the Boys & Girls Club movement.

“Tony is a valued member of our board of directors,” said Tim Blaylock, Chief Professional Officer of Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. “Our entire community is fortunate to have such an enthusiastic supporter of our youth and Boys & Girls Club representing us at the state level. I am pleased the Central Coast Area Council elected him to this important position.”

“Board education, collaboration and growth, and recognition are the three strategic directions upon which area councils are focused,” Volante explained. “I have been a supporter of our local Boys & Girls Club for many years and am looking forward to strategically championing the crucial programs and services we offer on a county, state and National level. My new position on the Central Coast Area Council reaffirms my feeling that I am privileged to serve as a board volunteer of our Boys & Girls Clubs.”

For 53 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme, has inspired and enabled young people, especially those who need it most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Serving more than 7000 young people through 25 facility-based sites and a wide array of programs and services, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme is the positive place for youth, ages 6 to 18, in the community.
