Internship Program
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme has had an active internship program. Boys & Girls Clubs offers undergraduate and graduate-level internships in its 5th street headquarters and in its and satellite offices. As Boys & Girls Clubs is a non-profit organization with less than 10 percent of its funds going to operative costs, Boys & Girls Clubs Internships are unpaid. Interns must be receiving academic credit.
Interns are expected to complete a minimum of 15 hours/week over a three-month period or the equivalent in a shorter period of time. Placements are made on a rolling basis throughout the year subject to availability and need.
- Internship availability varies each semester/term based upon the following criteria:
Undergraduate Internships: Undergraduate interns are assigned to one of our four departments and work on a variety of tasks including programs or fundraising or other major project, several ongoing project-related tasks or assignments, and day-to-day administrative support. To qualify for an internship, students must be receiving academic credit.
- Application Process:
The application is available online By Clicking Here. Once a completed application has been received, the intern coordinator and other appropriate staff will review it. Final candidates will be interviewed in person when possible or by phone.
Department Assignments:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme recruits interns for each of its departments as needed. These departments are: Resource Development, Marketing and Communicatons, Programs, and Athletic/Recreational Administration. While interns will be assigned a staff contact person, they often have the opportunity to work with a number of people within their department or throughout the agency. Interns are also encouraged to attend relevant staff and departmental meetings to gain the broadest possible appreciation and understanding for our work. We believe that Boys & Girls Clubs internships can be an excellent learning experience for the intern. Interns have the opportunity to become exposed to Youth Development and a full range of nonprofit management issues.
We look forward to receiving your application! |
